Marie-Gabrielle Bertran
PhD candidate, software development specialist in Russia
Marie-Gabrielle Bertran is a PhD candidate at the IFG Lab and a researcher at GEODE.
His thesis work focuses on the new policies for the promotion of digital sovereignty implemented by the State in Russia and their consequences in the practices of Russian developers, as well as on the domestic and international digital markets.
The attempt to develop sovereign digital technology in Russia contributes to the opening of public markets, which guide the research and development (R&D) work of companies. In order to appear more attractive in the eyes of state actors, these companies also tend to guide their R&D methods themselves, with the specific aim of obtaining public contracts. This observation raises the question of which business or state influences the new digital development policies currently being implemented in Russia.
