Clotilde Bomônt
PhD geography, Cloud specialist
Clotilde is an associate research fellow at GEODE and IFG Lab, and a permanent researcher fellow at the Institute for Strategic Studies (IRSEM) in the “Armament and Defense Economics” team. Clotilde holds a PhD in political geography from Pantheon-Sorbonne University. She works mainly on the integration of new technologies in governmental and military organizations, and on “digital sovereignty” issues at the national and the European levels. Her doctoral thesis focused on the geopolitics of the French defense cloud, and analyzed new forms of spatial organization of state power through the construction of a socio-technical object. Her doctoral work was awarded the scientific prize from the Institute for Advanced Studies in National Defense (IHEDN).
Previously, she was a visiting scholar at Columbia University in New York (2019) and an associate researcher at the Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan school research center (CREC, 2018-2022). Formerly receiving a research grant from the Directorate general for international relations and strategy (DGRIS, Ministry of the Armed forces), Clotilde was also an associate doctoral student at IRSEM from 2017 to 2020. She has taught at the Pantheon-Sorbonne University, the Paris 8 University and the military schools of Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan (Écoles militaires de Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan).
